"beer shoes" and bonfires

Since I only have about 860 words left in my essay (heh), I figured I would take a break to update...So selfless, I know.

Friday night = the bop, as always (I can never resist the chance to bust a move)! This one was particularly WONDERFUL, because most of C-floor actually made it there (we usually lose quite a few people between standing in the kitchen saying "let's go to the bop!" and actually arriving at the Union). Lots of cheesy music (there was a "Grease" medley, which we sang dramatically at the top of our lungs), and all kinds of silly dancing (I learned what seems to be the British equivalent of the cha cha slide!). Only downside: this dude comes up behind me and spills a drop of beer on my feet, causing me to turn around...I look at him in confusion, and he proceeds to pour AN ENTIRE PINT OF BEER into my shoes (hence, beer shoes). Me: "Really?" Him: "Errr, sorry. [wanders away]" Quite annoying, but it did elicit quite a few chuckles ;P

Saturday = Scotland v. Ireland rugby match! Watched it in The Vic on the comfy couches...And I've come to the conclusion that rugby is FAR superior to American football. Reasons why? 1) No commercials every three seconds. 2) The plays run for more than 2 consecutive minutes. 3) The game only lasts about an hour and a half (as opposed to an entire afternoon) 4) You don't have to have watched it your entire life to understand what's happening 5) exciting things happen more then twice a quarter 6) no skanky cheerleaders

So that was fun! Then we had a bonfire on the beach again....Lots of silly banter and a bit of dancing in the sea = a wonderfully relaxing evening :) Side-note: Did not realize that s'mores were such a distinctly American thing! It's funny how many things I think people "just know" (like, for instance, that one makes s'mores with marshmallows, graham crackers & chocolate...except they don't have graham crackers here, so we used chocolate chip cookies :)) Now my whole room smells of campfire...Mmm, delicious :P

And now, The Testament of Cresseid is feeling neglected, so I'd better go work--at least until the ceilidh in hall tonight!! :D
