'cause i'm, i'm being honest

Today's #1 frustration?
STUDENT VISA.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could all trust each other? Here's how I'd love the dialogue to go:

Me: Hello, United Kingdom! My name is Christy. Would it be alright if I lived over there for a few months?
United Kingdom: Sounds great!

Oh, if only.

But alas....I have to do silly things like telling about my educational history since age 11 and giving them extensive digital fingerprints and bank statements and perhaps my left pinkie and my firstborn child.

I know I didn't HAVE to get a visa (apparently all I need is an Entry Clearance)...but someone advised me just to go ahead and get it. I did not realize what a pain it would be, or I'd have promptly discarded that advice :P Here's hoping it's not all for naught!

all I want is a room somewhere...

Okay, let's talk about "accommodation" for a minute:

I'm living in University Hall...

So, I don't know about you, but I think that looks something akin to a castle, which makes me pretty freaking excited :)

Aaaand I'm living in a single?
Quite the departure from The Cave, I'll tell you what! I will definitely miss all the quirky logistics of sleeping 5 feet off the ground and only 1 foot away from my rommie's feet, and the fact that reaching the bathroom often involves climbing over her when she's at her desk. It's been fun. Plus, I've grown rather fond of the soothing sounds of the dryer constantly running outside my door :P

Eeeeeep, I'm realizing more and more that this is ACTUALLY HAPPENING. Crazy? Yes.

Okay, enough daydreaming. It's time to finish that pesky final paper.

show me how pretty the world is

So...I know that I don't actually go abroad for another couple of months, but I am 100% pumped to be done with this ridiculously busy semester in a couple weeks. I keep procrastinating doing actual work in favor of thinking about St. Andrews. For instance...

things i ought to have done this weekend:
  • looked over my art history notes
  • started my paper for modern poetry
  • .... actually read the poetry

things i actually did this weekend:
  • daydreamed about St. Andrews
  • researched accommodation options
  • got really excited about drops in exchange rates
  • thought about the lack of wool in my wardrobe
  • shopped online for warm clothes
  • daydreamed some more, and...
  • started this blog
Does anybody see a pattern?
